Many hours work, well done. Enjoyed reading about the POW camps, as kids in late 1940s we played around the huts of Haversham Camp, just outside Wolverton in North Bucks, i am in regular contact with an ex 'Inmate' |

| Thanks for providing a facility that may attract members of the Kaumann family in Germany to contact me. We went to the Landing Beaches on the 50th Anniversary and stayed near the Canadian landing zone. You cannot relate to these events until you've seen these places can you? I still question the wisdom of landing at Omaha. Having been there I found the Private Ryan movie quite horrendously real. Tony - England. |

Wanted to tell you how GREAT your website is! I've been interested in POW camps in the U.S. for years, ever since hearing that there were two WWII POW camps in East TN, USA and a (supposedly) WWI POW camp in North Knoxville, TN! Ironically, this latter camp is now a Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency/ Military small-arms training/firearms training/shooting club. Looks like I may have to start workking on the a website for the ones just now mentioned! GREAT JOB...I plan to revisit your site often. Just curious to know how often you hear from the ex-German POWs who were housed in these camps? Bill Stevens

| Well done on a wonderful site. A big surprise to find von Rundstedt, von Manteuffel and von Brauchitsch here - at least I know what happened to them now. |

people get to get their act together and stand up for life and what it means. There are so many messed up humans out there and if somebody did something about it than other people would follow.

| I hadn't realised that there were so many POW camps in Britain, i was looking for a camp in Hampshire that my Nan lived near when she was young, when she went past the POWs would talk to her and give her chocolate. Thanks for such an interesting site. |

Heinrici was the general who defied Hitler's order to destroy all of Berlin bridges during the battle with the Russians.
He was principled, strong and certain of every decision...a great officer and good person. |

I lived opposite Kingstown Airfield Where the two German POWs stole the aircraft from but the reason I am writing is to tell you that there was a small Italian POW Camp at Blackford about 2 miles North of Kingstown it was a small camp comprising of only about 3 wooden hutsit was situated very close to the old Blacksmiths Smithy. The Italian Prisoners used to walk into our Village of Kingstown every day this must have been after the Italians gave up about 1943/4 I also remember the weekend before D.Day there was no sign of the prisoners so being nosey boys we went to see where they were and found a lot of them Laying on a grass bank about 1 mile outside Kingstown when we asked them why they had not come into the village they said the Allies are going to invade Europe and until they do we are restricted to how far we can walk from the camp
You have created an excellent website. Congratulations.
Regards Stan Brown |

Good Day, Found your site most intresting, I come from Newport Gwent but have lived in Australia for the last fifty years. My father was stationed at Malpas camp Newport,he was a DR and went to all the POW camps around the area. The Germans made a lot of toys and tea trays which dad exchanged for cigarettes. He went to Magor a lot of times[Lanmarten] and I always thought this was the site of the breakout,as Dad was on stand too till they recaptured them all. I was about 8 at the time so it was all a bit confused to me. Thanks for a most intresting read and giving me a bit of practice on my new dell. Best Wishes Derek Ward Queensland Australia |

What a great site and a great source of additional information in my quest for details of the careers of the recipients of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. Keep up the excellent work, and, any chance of a reciprocal link with my site www.ritterresearch.co.uk ?
I look forward to hearing from you,
