| Hello: I came across your site by accident while researching POW camps, in Germany for a newly widowed friend whose husband had been held for over three years. When I saw the site mentioning Bridgend Wales I had to view. My mother was born at the old Sunnyside House and my father came from the vallies above Swansee to Bridgend in 1940. I had recalled they had mentioned that there had been a POW camp located near Bridgend during the war. I found the site very informative and interesting. Keep up the great work. |

| Hello and well done Brett, it's great that there are people like you out there who take the time to document such important historical information. I always remember passing the camp on the A48 as a child in the family car and being fascinated it was a POW camp. Keep up the good work!! |

| Hello I read Robert Ryan's "Night Crossing" and discovered the references to Bridgend Wales where many of my ancestors lived after having left Cutcombe Somerset. It added more insight to a part of Wales unknown to me in Australia. A great read and a great true life story. |

| Hello, I loved this website - the list of bombs dropped was rivetting reading. My aunt was killed as a baby when a bomb dropped on their house in Mayhill Swansea. I cannot imagine how the people of our area must have felt. It must have been terrifying! Well done on yr site! |

| Hello. I was so pleased to find your site and am most impressed with the amount of research you have done. My father was a prisoner of war, arriving in Britain in Oct. 44 after being captured by the Americans in France. He was in camps in Newbury racecourse, Moreton in the Marsh and finally in Hare Hatch near Twyford in Berkshire. From here he was set to work on farms which is how he came to meet my mother. He told us quite a few tales of his time in camp so if you are interested I could give you a bit more infromation. |

Hello! Great website. I'm 50 years old, and I remember my best friend's Dad talking about his time , during the war, as a very young Captain, guarding German POWs. And as a seventeen year old, I used to serve a customer, who was an ex POW, who decided to stay in Britain after the war. He used to talk about his time as a prisoner. You must have spent eons on this site. |

Hello from Canada:
I came across your website after googling for some info on the SS at Bolazano.
You are to be congratulated on a very comprehensive site. I particularly like that you take some pains to relate what is happening on the location today, and to advocate for historical preservation. Well done. |

Hello Like many others i stumbled on this site by accident. As a child I lived at the old Marbury Hall (Cheshire) POW camp. My family went to live there about 1951 .The camp huts had been converted into chalet type/prefabricated buildings. The site was owned by ICI and used the place to house workers who moved there from Liverpool/Manchester. The Hall was still in use housing single men and was still an imposing building as I recall. There were still a large number of Poles living there , many working in the hall as chefs etc.The gardens were maintained by a group of gardeners one of whom had I believe been a guard there during the war, he was Bill Gardener who originated from Tonypandy ,south wales. He was a friend of my parents and one of his fellow gardeners was a man called Charlie, dont remember his surname. Sadly Nothing now remains of the old place, the hall was demolished some years ago as were all the old huts. The area is now a country park but one small section of the old hall grounds remains and is now a Garden Centre. As I recall during my childhood at Marbury it was a great place for kids to grow up, surrounded by woods and fields and the magnificent lake for fishing. Jeff |
