Hello, Just having another try at finding anybody that may have known my Dad. He sailed for the Larinaga Shipping line out of Liverpool, during the war. He was crewing the Steam ship Domingo de Larinaga, when it was sunk by a German Q Boat, I think it may have been the Pelican. He then spent the war in various locations as a POW arriving at Milag nord from a forced march on foot from I think, Bremen. I will be happy to be corrected if any of my information is wrong. Dad know as Bobby, was born to a Spanish father in Liverpool and attended St Peter's in Seel Street. He was a useful boxer and a popular lad. Never spoke a lot about the war, he was a private sort of guy. I do remember from my childhood that there was visitor to our home by a Japanese bloke that was known to me as Uncle Tacky. He had been a POW with Dad and went on to a role in the film, "A Town Like Alice". He played the Japanese guard on the trek across Singapore. Other names I remember : Joe Boil. Joe (I think ) Stokes. Somebody told me that on the March to Milag, a seaman was taken seriously ill and couldn't walk. Apparently he would have been shot and left behind but Dad intervened and carried the bloke. If there is anybody that can fill in blanks provide more information or confirm anything I already know, I would realy apresiate you getting in touch.
