Hello and greetings to one and all! I have a longstanding interest in this General who was a POW at Island Farm and was loyal assistant to Von Rundstedt. My grandmothers maiden name was "Blumentritt" and would like to see if distant releatives, kinfolk, etc. I post here about every year or two, hoping to get info and am renewing such by this post. Any one with info on him, his service, life, post war life, releatives in Gernany (beleive he has/had grandson who taught history at Univeristy in Munich, but cannot relocate him). Blumentritt had a very "storied" life, serving under Rommel, Von Runsdedt, in Russia, at DDay, implicated in plot on Hilter, believe was tried twice and acquited for war crimes in lesser trials, quoted in "The Longest Day" movie, etc. Would like to do detailed research on this remarkable prussian General. Hope to hear from one and all. Many, many thanks helwig76@yahoo.com
