Hello - not sure if anyone can help as I have little information at the moment. My father (John Petrie) was a small boy during the early 1940's when the Italian POWs were on Orkney. He is trying to find out what happened to one of the POWs who possibly worked on his father/grandfather's farm at Holm, Orkney. Do you know if anyone would have a list of names of all the Italian POWs at that time? Like all Italians who love children, this particular POW became an adopted member of the Petrie family and was very close to my father (aged about 4-5), who cycled around on the handlebars of the POW's bicycle! My father also helped (or probably got in the way) when they were building the Italian Chapel, and my father can remember them building the barriers and also when they marched off the island to return home. My father wishes he had tried to find his friend as he grew up (my father is 68 this year) - we have probably left things too long but it would be great to see what we can find out. Many thanks for your help and kind regards - Sue
